Please note there is a great need for affordable housing in Okaloosa County, and the wait time may be a year or more. After you have applied to the waiting list, our office will contact you by email when a property becomes available.
Requirements to qualify for the Affordable Housing Program, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Combined household must earn a minimum of $24,000.00 per year. The minimum is higher based on the number of dependents,
2. NO PETS allowed inside the property.
3. NO SMOKING allowed inside the property.
4. If a property becomes available, applicants must pay a non-refundable $35.00 application fee for each adult occupant. This will be due when notified by EMAIL that a property is available for occupancy.
5. Okaloosa County is NO LONGER taking new Section 8 payments.
IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATIONS
ANY FELONY OR FIRST-DEGREE MISDEMEANOR CHARGES RELATED TO:
1.1 Crime against any person or children.
1.2 Designation as a sexual predator, sexual offender, or a career/habitual offender.
1.3 Applicant with convictions that have occurred in the last FIVE YEARS for the following: (1) Crimes against persons or property (2) Crimes involving drugs or weapons (3) Crimes involving sex.
